Ladrang Overview

The Ladrang

Tsem Ladrang is the residence and private office of H.E. Tsem Rinpoche, and the headquarters of the KECHARA organization. The Ladrang contains His Eminence’s personal living quarters, administrative offices for the Ladrang staff, a throne room and a central prayer hall that is dedicated especially towards KECHARA’s Dharma work and growth.

Whilst the Ladrang’s main headquarters is in Malaysia, Tsem Ladrang has also been established in Kathmandu, Nepal, Gaden Monastery, India and Bangkok, Thailand.

The daily operations of the Ladrang are overseen and executed by the dedicated team of Ladrang staff. The Ladrang’s responsibilities include:

  • Attending to His Eminence’s personal needs
  • Preparing for teachings and Dharma events
  • Arranging for private audiences and/or divinations
  • Managing correspondence, gifts and offerings
  • Marketing and PR for H.E. and the KECHARA organisation
  • Spreading H.E.’s Dharma teachings via multimedia and online resources
  • Overseeing and supporting the KECHARA organisation in all ways necessary

Ultimately, the Ladrang takes care of all secular matters of the Lama and center, to relieve the Lama of mundane duties so that he can focus solely on teaching and spreading the Dharma.

The Liaisons

The Liaisons Council was introduced in the year 2006. Due to the kindness of our Spiritual Guide, H.E. Tsem Rinpoche, the Liaisons structure was put in place to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the organization’s operations. This concept stems from the monastic institution of the great Gaden Monastery, where it was adopted hundreds of years ago and endures until today.

The position of a Head Liaison in the monastery is called the ‘Chang Tso’, who reports directly to the Abbot of the monastery. Each department head or ‘Sopon’ holds a particular portfolio to support the Chang Tso by carrying out their respective duties. The position of Chang Tso and Sopons are held in high regard in the monastery and requires extreme dedication of highly trained monks who are fully responsible for all related matters in each department.

In KECHARA, the Liaisons are committed to assist H.E. Tsem Rinpoche in spreading the Buddhadharma far and wide. This includes creating the environment for the most challenging and rewarding training – the mind training through Lama Tsongkapa’s teachings for all who come in contact with the KECHARA organisation.
