Dato’ Colin Tan
Board of Directors
I met H.E. the 25th Tsem Rinpoche back in 1998. I was 15 and facing a major crossroads in my life. Then one day, my father invited me to one of Rinpoche’s Dharma talks.
That was my turning point. Even at that age, I knew I had found my mentor, my root Guru. His teachings are simple yet so profound. In his down-to-earth way, he continues to teach me the true meaning of Dharma and compassion – he reaches out to those in need, gives everything he has unconditionally and shares his spiritual knowledge with everyone, helping us all to achieve inner peace on the path to Enlightenment.
With Rinpoche’s guidance, I have become more conscious of my actions, more kind and compassionate towards the people I meet. I am grounded in the knowledge that I serve a bigger purpose; a purpose that Rinpoche has instilled in me, which is to dedicate myself to the service of others.
And now, after 17 years, Rinpoche has become more than my Guru; he is now our very close family friend. I am honoured to serve as a Director for Kechara, to assist Rinpoche in his gracious work to spread Dharma and benefit more people, both locally and internationally.
