A Holy Pilgrimage

In 2006, His Eminence Tsem Tulku Rinpoche led a group of 65 KECHARA pilgrims on a visit to Gaden Monastery. The group made an offering of 3000 Manjushri statues and a set of robes to every monk in both Gaden Shartse and Gaden Jangtse colleges. The pilgrims also had the rare opportunity to have audience with many of the esteemed masters in Gaden including H.H. Kyabje Zong Rinpoche, the Abbot H.E. Ken Rinpoche and the Abbot Emeritus H.E. Khensur Konchok Tsering Rinpoche.

Being able to visit the monastery as part of His Eminence's entourage is, of course, an experience like no other. However, individuals can also visit Gaden on their own accord.

How to get there

There are regular flights to Bangalore from Kuala Lumpur via Malaysian Airlines and Indian Airlines. These flights take 5 hours.

From Bangalore to Hubli, there are two options. The first option is an hour's flight via Kingfisher Airlines, which costs around RM300 for a one-way journey. If there are budgetary constraints, a second option is to take an 8-hour train ride to Hubli which costs RM80 each way. From Hubli, it is then a one hour drive to Mundgod.
