Merit-Making on Qing Ming
March 17, 2010

A Buddhist always remembers the kindness of others but for many of us caught up in the struggles of daily life, we find it difficult to practise that meditation constantly... so why not take a day out to do just that? And what better day to remember the kindness of others than on Qing Ming?

This is Qing Ming with a difference. Instead of spending the day outdoors under the hot sun, why not join us in Kechara House 2 (with air-conditioning!) where we will be holding a Qing Ming Setrap puja? As an enlightened Being, Setrap's holy practice is a direct method of helping our departed loved ones and ancestors.

Come and join us on 27 March 2010 from 3pm to 5pm for our English Setrap puja, and 8pm to 10pm for our Chinese Setrap puja. The pujas will generate blessings and merit for the protection and clearance of obstacles for our loved ones...so grab the chance to propitiate Setrap directly at our chapel!

For further information, please contact Kechara House's administrator Lim Tat Ming by calling +603 7803 3908 or email [email protected].

This is Qing Ming with a difference.

On 27th March 2010, Kechara House will be holding TWO separate events to generate blessings for our loved ones.

Join us in Kechara House 2 where we will be holding a 12-hour marathon Qing Ming Setrap puja. From 8am to 8pm, there will be at least four people chanting Setrap's mantra continuously! The puja will generate merit for the protection and clearance of obstacles for our loved ones...so grab the chance to propitiate Setrap directly at our chapel! If you cannot join us, take part by sponsoring us and dedicate the merits to your loved ones.

Over at Kechara House 1, there will be an English Setrap puja from 3 to 5pm, and a Chinese Setrap puja from 8 to 10pm. As an enlightened Being, Setrap's holy practice is a direct method of helping our departed loved ones and ancestors. Dedicate the merits created by hanging a dedication card on our dedication tree!

Remember! If you are unable to attend the puja in person, you may also register ahead of time for offerings and pujas to be made on your behalf and dedicated to your loved ones. Contact [email protected] to make online arrangements for pujas and offerings or visit VajraSecrets to make an offering of pearls, pujas or sponsor candles. Or contact Kechara House's administrator Lim Tat Ming by calling +603 7803 3908.

Setrap is the enlightened Dharma Protector of Kechara House and our mother monastery, Gaden in South India.  To learn the practice, you could also join us every Monday night between 8-10pm at KH2.  Our Guru, H. E. Tsem Tulku Rinpoche compassionately taught KH members and friends this powerful practice in order to clear obstacles (inner, outer and secret) that could hinder our spiritual practice.

I waz there  Grin
Came in as a visitor and observer...had many interesting experiences...
Some observances...
1. Met a smiley and courteous reception lady, a Ms May Ong, where I registered and sponsored something for the 'wishing tree' and later she checked with me on how I was doing and gave me her Kechara business/contact card. (Perhaps, the only person there who ever noticed my existence, besides another unknown lady at the reception table who suddenly greeted me Cheesy )
2. No one came and gave me any prayer book to follow through (my own fault for not being nosey and pokey enough to look for it) but its ok cos' I am just there to look and see and managed to follow through some familiar mantras or verses known to myself through online sources and practice.
3. House rules on attire...I thought that it was to be enforced strictly as per the website yet spotted some guys in shorts, 3/4s pants, one even had his head cap on for the puja!  Grin At least, no cell phones rang during the puja lol...
What intrigued me as well was the leader of the puja, can't recall her name though, was attired quite 'casually', as I always had the impression that they must be covered thoroughly for modesty and respect for the shrine decorum but hey what do I know...different strokes for different folks  Tongue
She was cool, as the leader of the puja, recitation and leading wise...
4. Had some 'other worldly' experiences there but I guess best kept to my own personal journal...

Would I visit again? Yup, but of course, when causes and conditions  are right...as usual  Cheesy

hi,

Brings memories of my first trip to Kechara. I was pretty much left alone to observe the happenings.  There's just so much activity there.  But i noticed if you just asked and let people  know that you're new to Kechara,  people would be rushing to give a hand !

I'm a regular at the Sunday English Manjushri class, but I don't know many people from the puja sessions.  If I see new faces at Kechara, I'd just assume that the person is a regular at one of the other 12 departments.  There just so many things happening at Kechara.

Do join us for personal growth,  for the growth of Kechara and for the growth of Buddhadharma.   It'll be FUN !
