If  Ms. caddell is concerned with historical accuracy along with her heritage ,  I would  suggest that she consider flying the confederate national flag. The national flag is both inoffensive and unrecognizable to the vast majority. The flag that she is flying and causing such a ruckus with is actually the confederate battle flag.
Also in the interest of both confederate military accuracy and her ancestors, its considered dishonorable  to fly the battle flag casually.

here's a link.
 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flags_of_the_Confederate_States_of_America

After reading this I see that I am both right and wrong.
I was thinking of the first flag of the Confederate Nation.  Due to the cobwebs in my mind, I had forgotten that there were two other National flags. They did contain the  element of the battle flag. The second flag featured it  on a white field. The third flag was on a white field with a red stripe.  Ms Caddell still might want to represent her heritage by flying the the first flag. It would probably be far less aggravating to her community.
