I'm wanting to increase my connection to Tara.  I have her mantra and her prayers.  Please post here any thing you have found helpful and particularly inspiring about Tara, her mantras and practice (including meanings and explanations). Smiley

Any one know what the following means and what it's purpose is?  It is part of Praises to 21 Taras and I find myself liking to sing this line over and over.

Om Je Tsun Ma Pag Ma Drol Ma La Chag Tsel Lo

Try it out.  Say it in a sing song way a few times over.  What is it?

It is a mantra and it is wonderful for you to be connected to Tara. I love Tara as well. She has a very nurturing and soothing nature.

Yes, I am liking her quite a lot. It has taken me a long time to really feel that. Sometimes I'm saying her mantra and I feel very fond of that mantra and of her. It's very interesting.

Most people will connect to Tara first compared to other Yidams because she does attract people via swift relief from suffering (Compassion) but what would be nicer is if we could embody that for others....

Tare or Arya Tare in sanscrit means Virtuos Liberator.

Her mantra, the texts say cares on the whole system of Lamrim training like the Prajnaparamita mantra represents the 5 paths of a Bodhisattva.
There is the Nyingma Tradition for the 21 tares and also the Kadampa tradition of 21 Tares, this last one comes from Atisha himself. Basically the difference is that Atisha's tradition does not have arms and so forth, but all of the 21 Tares hold vases, like Kuan Yin Pu Sa, and sit in the Bodhisattva's crossed legs. There is Tare in the four classes of Tantra, and the last one, annutarayogatantra, she is called Chittamani Tare.

The lineage of the teachings is still alive and Choeden Rinpoche has it and still gives initation and generation stage commentaries. Completion stage looks like very very hard to find. This system is mother tantra and deals with clear light mind putted in the path to reach full enlightment, abhisambuddha.

I believe Tsem Rinpoche should have the lineage for this teachings also....

It is said, in some texts, that the mantra of Vajrasattva of 100 syllabes can be replaced for OM TARE TUTTARE TURE SOHA in order to chance afflictive tendencies of the mind and make it more familiarized with virtuos ones, specially bodhicitta.

To visualize Arya Tare, mother of all the Buddhas, in the heart is the best way to generate bodhicitta, while outside one should do many actions of compassion towards living beings, specially save them for dangerous situations...
