I was on another forum and this person felt I was insensitive to him as he was abused sexually?

I said for the person being abused he had the karma to experience that. That no one not even babies were innocent.

We all carry the baggage of karma.

Can we experience harm if we did not harm others in the past?

I say yes.  The past covers  many lifetimes...small babies are subject to karma IMO

True. All that happened to us is due to past karma. But I think for a lot of people who are in sufferings and have not open their mind to accept the idea that everything is from their past deeds, skillfully chosen the right words is needed; as they're in a closed, projected mind of suffering already that they won't take in what you said about karma.

Yes Ethan, you may be right, especially on the net. I will try to be extra sensitive and careful, though a bit hard when all they can see is words still I rather to take some criticism than not tell the truth. As people who do not take karma into consideration sorry to say they have not even stepped into buddhism, I was there before when I used to treat Buddha like God.

Yeah, coupled with the fact that everyone interprets words differently. You might not meant as such but the person on the other side, without seeing your expression or hearing the tone of your voice, might think otherwise.

If there were no past lives or previous lives then we can wonder.

But since there is it should be very clear Smiley

Yup, since we don't just exists in this life, there were countless of lifetimes before this one. Each life time we constantly creating karma, good or bad - that explain why some people are born rich, some poor, some healthy, some with disability.
