When Buddha was about to pass through paranirvana, his last sentence was to us to be our own light, our own teacher...

Sometimes we go to far on our own interpretation and attempt to imitate the Rime ideology, trying to unite different religions, in this case...

When the Gospel of John was writting down it is about 150 years after Jesus death. Could John, the apostle live that long? ... So, it is the apostle communities or even communities that where inspired by his presence and teachings that wrote the Gospel from where "I'm the light of the world" and "I'm the way (path)" comes. We must be very carefull when read the gospels. It is originally wrote in greek language and for each word there is minimum 5 up to 20 possibles means (that is classical greek, not actual greek)... so any person that is really interested to compare Jesus and Buddha must learn first greek classical language and enter into this knowing that perhaps there is no answer to some contradictory expressions, and also we will need to move to archeologycal and historical researchs on the topics... very hard and very laborious... but if we want to be talking about our own interpretations, it is good to let us know that it is about our own interpretation based on our own guesses...

David Flusser and other universities teachers have the idea that Jesus had existed...others discharge the possibility... I go with David Flusser on this, I think he existed, but it is possible to believe he did not with reason too... but the information about the Constantine age and so on is very important, we have to always consider that as a possibility....

Very confusing aspects of possible historical facts, isn't it? To me it is...

Ps: If someone think I'm showing off because I'm talking about David Flusser, please, think again, it is something very basic of kindness to point out where someone could look for more secure information...

Where, pray, does Buddha say, "I am the Light"?

Indeed - his final advice, NEVER to be discounted was that one was to become a light, a light unto onself.

SNN, you're lucky you're not a monk in my monastery.  I would make you write the Diamond Sutra 1,000 times on a New York subway wall during rush hour in black spray paint.

Then I'd give you a big fat hug and maybe, just maybe, we'd share a lovely meal.

Oh, another thing, please do not get me started on Yeheshua:  the received texts of Christianity, in my book, are nowhere nearly as cleanly handed down as the teachings of Buddha.  Indeed, there is a great case to be made that they were simple spin on the part of Constantine, who needed a new authoritative way to run an empire.  There is a great case to be made that Jesus did not even exist, that "he" is/was an archetype very much alive at the time but not in-body.

I suspect if anyone said, "I am the light", they meant "I-AM the Light", as in the hamsa meditations of our Hindu siblings.

Ego had nothing to do with it.

Your ever suffering old man,

Scott

I had no idea you controlled all the monks Scott lol

Indeed.  In my capacity as the real pope, Pope Hassle (that soi-disant gentleman in Rome is an extra terrestrial implant), I also run a franchise of convents (Kentucky Fried Chicken was our model) up and down the East Coast of the USA.

Cells may be rented at a modest fee for 30 to 60 minutes at a time.  I throw the nuns in for free.

I'm still trying to figure out how to make a buck with those monasteries...trust me, it ain't easy...but a pope has to make a buck.

Love to all (rate cards bestowed upon request),

Hassle

<< can't imagine what all the Vatican has in storage and hidden

A lot of empty monasteries in Burma I understand.

Monks far better than me have died in Burma because of this I think.

If I were the Burmese monks that protested, I would be very afraid of even the protectors of Buddhism taking wrathful form against me. Maybe they don't recognize personal protectors but the naga Dharma protectors might take action too along with Buddhist earth spirits and everyone else
Funny how if you don't follow the Dharma, everything seems to work to make you suffer. Funny in a unfortunate way, but that's how things are it seems.

Anyone who lets on that this cesspool is not a cesspool or, worse, that it is ignorable, deserves every bit of suffering that comes their way.

Shame, shame, shame upon the Chinese government...but worse, shame upon those who pass by their tolerane of beyond-evil  in quasi-pious silence.

And, upon the Myamar government, it is beyond shame.  I do not even know the word for it.

Curse me.  Kick me from the list.  I really don't give a shit.

Scott

Sadness is too weak a word to describe how i feel. If i could, I would be protesting with them there too. But all i can do now is to raise awareness on-line. Even with that, i don't think i have done enough. Cry Cry Cry

Hatred never ceases through hatred,
Only through love does hatred cease,
This is an eternal law.                                    The Buddha.

Let us all live by this principle and strive to improve ourselves always.
