I heard my Lama chant Vajrasattva 100 syllable mantra some months ago now and thought - wow! - but too much for a brand newbie like me - who over the years has only listened to and read Sogyal Rinpoche, been rocked like a baby by the sound of his voice (even when his words are only read) but never actually chanted myself. Perhaps I was marinating all that time...I don't know, but it was still important because when I met my Lama, lights started coming on. Anyway, later I read this very thread and thought "oh, that's that beautiful mantra, maybe I'll learn it" but it just didn't happen for what ever reason. Then one sleepless night at 2am, I turn on Rinpoche's recording of the same name and well, if anyone can motivate you to get off your backside and chant (or get on your backside and chant) it's him isn't it. He just explained it so well and all of the other previous little taps on the shoulder combined together and next thing I know I'm chanting this beautiful mantra like it's an old best friend. Oh how I love it and when I get towards the end of my mala I feel so light and it's magical. I don't really understand what's happening yet, after all I'm just chanting and not even doing the whole practice. I'm definately really keen on it though and asked my Lama if it will be good for me to do the whole practice. (without initiation I don't know but I'm hoping...) So the moral , thank you to all you guys for this thread, for watering the seed.

yea I was away for some purification to take place but I am very happy to be back let scott know that he may not be the one who "found" this community but we will always be here for him if he needs support. maybe his old members can join here too. we could open up a special section for them or something.

for months I think. My most impure trait was my habit of lying which has now been taken care of
