Oh, I just love this Dedication piece. So beautiful.  But I have some problems understanding some of the lines such as:

"And yet, just wishing this, without practicing
the three ethics, Enlightenment cannot be attained.
knowing this well, please bless me to intensively
strive to train in the Bodhisattva vows. "

Does anyone know what is meant by practicing the three ethics?  Is it the battle against, attachment, aversion and ignorance?

Yonten Shigyurma is the Lam Rim Dedication. Within  the Lam Rim there are the three higher trainings - morality or ethics, concentration and wisdom .

If i'm not mistaken, Yongten Shigurma Dedication Prayers is written by Lama Tsongkhapa itself, very powerful and nice dedication....

As per our Protector - Lord Setrap said, we do Yongten Shigurma after every prayers session for a good dedication to all sentient beings.....

Cheers.....

The six perfections are generosity, ethics ,patience, perseverance, concentration and wisdom.  I am posting this because there are many lurkers on board that might wonder what they are...please consider us internet learners Smiley

I am under the impression that the link I am posting is ok Huh...if not I am sure a newbie will take care of it  Wink

I think Yonten Shigyurma is really a profound dedication for meditation, especially when we study the Lamrim, and understand the meaning of each of the verses. I find it very affirmative towards my commitment for spiritual practice.

A senior member of the centre told me before, that once we study the Lamrim and then recite the Lamrim dedication prayers, (e.g. Yonten Shigyurma and etc), it is like a summary of the whole Lamrim, the spiritual path, and our commitment to practice and the Bodhisattva path.

Don't you think so?

Agree with you Prajna, the more you read, the more you understand...........Yongten Shigurma is a good dedication prayer and also some thoughts that remind us to practice generosity, boddhicita and etc etc.....Just like 8 verses of Mind Transformation
