By which time, we should start giving away statues to other practitioners.  This is good practice as it helps us cut out attachment and we can collect heps of merit (like pyramid selling). Every time someone prays to the statues you ahve given, they collect merit and you collect merit too!

Just looking at the 3000 smiling faces in Gaden Monastery is enough to spur anyone to start offering statues.  Seriously, if we can target to give away 3 statues a year it will be good for our dharma growth. Don't have to be 3 ft or 5 ft one. Can be small ones (6", 8" etc depending on ones financial disposition).

I know you're having a laugh Pasquale2k - (but the Lam Rim reminded us how not to obtain items to offer). LOL

Your cat is just thirsty .

I have cats too 3 of them , I will pour water from the offering into their drinking bowl.

But I would not let them drink the water on my altar as they will spill it on my altar and so forth , I keep my altar room locked aginst any kitty intrusion . i am not sure if you have the luxury of that .

I would recite the mantra, "tadyatha idam peni ratna pemani paratna ni svaha" seven times and blow on the water after offering so there is no pollution when a cat comes along and drinks some water.  You can google the mantra for more info.
