You all know what a probandum is? Its like..there is a fire in the house because there is smoke. Its what your trying to prove along with the reason

Does anyone know a source of traditional probandums used in Buddhist debate? Im especially looking for ones on lamrim topics rather than Lorig (types of mind)
There must be a webpage somewhere with these probandums on it?

I don't know where you'd find such a thing, but I'm curious, why would you look for that?

Well you cant really start a debate until you have something to debate ie a claim you wish to make.

Here are some I thought of for the 1st lamrim practice of seeking & replying upon a Spiritual Guide. I dont know if they are any good! if you like one of them reply to the thread singling out the quote & we can debate the one of your choice.

1) Liberation is possible because suffering can be reduced
2) Enlightenment is possible because wisdom can be increased
3) Future lives do not exist because the mind cannot exist without the brain!
4) My teacher can lead me to Enlightenment because he has the 10 qualities of a qualified Mahayana spiritual guide (from lamrim -Maitreyas Ornament to the sutras)
5) It is right to do everything a qualified Mahayana Root Guru asks because Naropa jumped off a cliff for Tilopa
6) An Enlightened being is not on my crown because I cannot see it.

other topics
assertion to challenge - It is wrong to see faults in your teacher/ It is right to see faults in your teacher/it is right to challenge my teacher/it is wrong to challenge my teacher
What are the characteristics of an invalid teacher? What are the characteristics of a valid teacher
The best most beneficial answers will be if we dont look at the books. When Buddhist monks debate are they allowed to look at books? Im not sure. Anyone know?

One of the reasons they debate is to prove they have memorized texts as they have to quote sometimes.
